I am a pomologist from Florida and a mother obsessed with bananas.

Proper preparation of green bananas may be a challenge to many people. Over-boiling or under-boiling green bananas is a mistake you want to avoid at all costs. Boiling green bananas for 15-20 minutes complies with the nutritionist’s recommendation. Giving your bananas effective timing is the best way to ensure all their nutritional benefits are available.

Undercooked bananas are more like purely raw, green bananas. They are very cumbersome to grind and digest in the mouth. Besides, under-boiled bananas can cause gas accumulation and bloating in your digestive tract.

Meanwhile, over-boiled bananas have an unpleasant taste, odor, and color. I doubt if there is any health benefit from over-cooked bananas. Eating over-boiled bananas could also trigger vomiting. So, proper timing and checking your boiling bananas are the key to a pleasing result.

How to boil green bananas

Many people do not know how to boil bananas successfully. I wholeheartedly accept the process of boiling bananas may be challenging, especially if you do not have a recipe. Well, worrying is not the solution. Below is a recipe that will make your cooking simple.

Requirements

  • some green bananas
  • serving dish
  • a large source pan
  • water
  • heat
  • a sharp knife
  • Chopping board.

Steps

  1. Wash the green bananas thoroughly and drain off excess water.
  • Place the green bananas on a chopping and position them by their sides.
  • Cut the ends of the green banana and remove the end entirely or partially. Cutting the ends partially is preferred because it allows easy peeling off the skin.
  • Using a knife, lightly score along the banana skin from the top towards the end. Ensure you do not drive a knife deeply into the flesh because this may break external parts. Simply make the slits with the tip of a knife.
  • Add the bananas carefully to the saucepan of boiling water and allow to boil under moderate heat for 15- 20 minutes. While the bananas boil, you notice they become tender and the peels progressively darken. You can prick the bananas with a fork to determine the degree of softness.
  • Once the bananas are completely cooked, withdraw the heat and let the water cool. Drain off the cool water.
  • Remove the bananas from the cool water and remove the peels with ease at your will.
  • Serve the bananas accordingly.
